Three AES graded stallions in top five King George V Gold Cup

The Grand Prix of the Longines tournament at Hickstead, also known as the King George V Gold Cup, was won by a woman for the first time in history. Until 2008 the King George Cup was only open to male riders. Female riders were only invited for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup op Saturday. Since both sexes can do both classes, the King George V Gold Cup was never won by a woman, until yesterday. Beezie Madden won on Cortes C. Three AES graded stallions followed in the trace of the winning pair. The AES Elite stallion Romanov placed second under the saddle of Bertram Allen of Ireland, who turned nineteen years old just two days ago. Marcus Ehning placed third on Plot Blue, also a Dutch born horse, and an elite stallion from AES. Fifth place went to a much younger, AES licensed stallion Golden Hawk (ex-Figo de Muze), the new top horse of Shane Breen after he sold Confident of Victory to Russia this week. Earlier in Hickstead on Saturday Robert Whitaker won a class on Catwalk IV (Colman), a German stallion approved by AES. Ben Maher was in third spot on the first day with the AES born mare Diva II (Kannan).
